If preferred, you would then be able to change the walls to be Walls in Revit, or the floors to Floors in Revit. This allows us to import the Sketchup Version 6 file as a generic mass. Once exported from Sketchup, I open up Revit and create a In-Place Mass. I’ve also tried exporting the files as KML from Loveland into Google Earth, then saving as KMZ, but SketchUp says import failed every time I try to open it up in SketchUp. This preserves the model’s quality and allows us to import it directly into Revit. I have a free student license for AutoCad, but I’m supposed to renew it, but can’t get it to work. ![]() Interestingly, If I open the DXF file up in AutoDesk viewer the actual parcels in the SHP appear to work just fine, but I can’t download it from AutoDesk so there’s nothing I can do with it. Most of the time it just says import failed, but sometimes I’ll get it to import a bizarre smashed up star looking thing (maybe there’s an error that’s making a cluster of all the shape files stacked on top of each other?). The most direct plan was to open the SHP in GQIS and export as DXF to desktop and then import into SketchUp. I’ve spent like 2 days now trying to get a geographically to-scale shape file of all of the parcels in the neighborhood to import as a basemap into sketch up and I can’t for the life of me make it work. If your OBJ file is uploaded with an accompanying MTL and texture files, these will be applied to the conversion process.I’m working on a neighborhood master plan using SketchUp Pro (2018), Google Earth, Google My Maps, QGIS, the City of Detroit Open Data Portal, Loveland Technologies, etc. A downside of the text-based format is the files can be rather large compared to similar binary formats such as STL and compressed files such as 3MF. This data can include Vertices, Faces, Normals, Texture Coordinates and references to external Texture files.Īs the format is text-based it is relatively straight-forward to parse by 3D modelling applications. The OBJ file format originally created by Wavefront Technologies and later adopted by many other 3D software vendors is a simple text-based file format for describing 3D model/geometry. OBJ Converters, 3D Model Voxelizer, Create OBJ Animation, Compress OBJ, OBJ Asset Extractor, Text to OBJ, View OBJ Once completed, you can either download the SKP files individually or download them all in a single ZIP file. Drag and drop file (s) or click to convert Select file (s) to convert Your files are processed safely and privately on your own computer and never stored on a server. Our tool will convert them all as quickly as possible. Home Convert 3D Model 3D Model Converter Convert your 3D models to multiple formats (OBJ, FBX, USDZ, GLB, GLTF, and more) online, free, and safe. You can upload up to 25 OBJ files at a time. Yes! Our OBJ tool supports full batch conversions. I have several OBJ files, can I batch convert my OBJ to SKP? Alternatively, you can place these additional files, along with the OBJ file within a ZIP or other compressed archive file and upload that. Our tool will intelligently detect which of these additional files belong with the OBJ file. If your OBJ file has separate material (MTL) and texture (PNG, JPG etc.) files, you can drag and drop these onto the upload tool along with the main OBJ file. My OBJ file contains materials and textures, how do I upload these? When an Ad Blocker is enabled there are some conversion limits on some of our tools and processing/conversion times will be longer. ![]() Although you can use an Ad Blocker, if you like our OBJ conversion tool please consider white-listing our site. What if I am using an Ad Blocker, will that affect things? No specialist software is needed to run any of our conversion tools. If you’re converting newer to older (say ‘21 to’ 17) File>Save As>SketchUp 2017 (under the drop down) If it’s older to newer 17 to 21) then yeah, just use SU Free Web as there’s no online tool as far as I’m aware. Yes! Our OBJ to SKP tool will run on any system with a modern web browser. ![]() Can I convert OBJ to SKP on Windows, Linux, Android, iOS or Mac OS? The resulting SKP file, once created is deleted 15 minutes after upload and the download link will expire after this time. Yes, of course! We do not store the OBJ file you submit to us. Our tools are under constant development with new features and improvements being added every week. We aim to create the most accurate conversions with our tools. How accurate is the OBJ to SKP conversion? We aim to process all OBJ to SKP conversions as quickly as possible, this usually takes around 5 seconds but can be more for larger more complex files so please be patient. How long does it take to convert my OBJ to SKP? Browse to the models that were exported in part one and select one to import. When the OBJ to SKP conversion has completed, you can download your SKP file straight away. In Sketchup, navigate to the File menu and select Import. First click the "Upload." button, select your OBJ file to upload.
